All Posts, Europe, France, Paris · 12 Best Views of the Eiffel Tower – with map! The Eiffel Tower is the symbol of Paris and one of the most recognized landmarks in the world. Designed for the 1889 World’s Fair, the Eiffel Tower has now become one of Paris’s top attractions – with over 7 million people visiting each year! Standing about 300 meters tall, the Eiffel Tower boasts its beauty all around the city of Paris. Luckily for us, this makes for some perfect views to admire. Keep reading to find out the 12 best views of the Eiffel Tower! I have also included a map with the exact locations of each spot. Enjoy! Jardins du Trocadéro Arguably the most famous spot the see the Eiffel Tower, the Trocadéro gardens will most likely be one of your favorite views of the iron lady. Trocadéro is perched on a slight hill with a landing designed solely as a viewing platform for Paris’s most famous landmark. In warmer months, you’ll find the fountains and cannons shooting jets of water over 150 feet – it’s quite the sight to see. TIP: Arrive early because this is the place to be for photos and it will get very crowded. Also, sunrises are best seen from here. Avenue de Camoëns Just a short walk around the corner from Trocadéro is the well-kept secret of Avenue de Camoëns. This view has it all – the Haussman style buildings, the cobblestone street, and, oh yeah, the Eiffel Tower! It’s the quintessential Paris view. It’s also much quieter than well-known touristy spots like Trocadéro, which is why this is my favorite spot to admire the Eiffel Tower. Champ de Mars Feel like having a picnic in the park? Grab your baguette, cheese, and wine and enjoy gazing up at the Eiffel Tower in the Champ de Mars park. This 60-acre park is where the locals gather to picnic, hang out, and watch the sunset. Walk around the park and you’ll find flowerbeds, ponds, and even a kids’ playground. We lived on the edge of this park for 2 years and can vouch that it is the perfect place to relax while taking in some amazing views. TIP: Don’t forget to stick around after dark to see the Eiffel Tower twinkle – it happens every hour on the hour for about 5 minutes. Galeries Lafayette For one of the best free rooftop views in the city, head over to the luxurious shopping mall, Galeries Lafayette. This mall is full of fancy brands to entice you in. Once inside, your eye will immediately be drawn to the legendary glass dome ceiling. Make your way up to the top floor via the escalators, then climb the last flight of stairs to access the amazing rooftop view over the city. TIP: If you’re in a shopping mood, there’s a Paris souvenir section on the top floor (5th) that has a better quality selection than you’ll find at a normal souvenir store. Also, if you’re lucky enough to be visiting Paris during Christmas time, don’t miss out on the Christmas decorations inside the mall — they have one of the best displays in the city! Printemps Located right down the street from Galeries Lafayette, Printemps is another luxury shopping mall in the Opera district. I personally prefer this view over Galeries Lafayette, but the viewing platform is much smaller than at Galeries Lafayette. I recommend checking out both malls as each has a unique view of the Eiffel Tower and the city of Paris. Try to visit during sunset for the best view. Access is on the 9th floor of the Men’s (Homme) Department store. Take the elevator up to the 8th floor, then find the stairs which will lead you to the rooftop terrace. TIP: There is also a restaurant and bar located on the rooftop. It’s a bit pricey and you’re mostly just paying for the view, but it would make the perfect location for a special occasion meal. Pont Alexandre III For one of the most underrated spots in Paris, spend some time at the bridge that has it all: ornate lampposts, gold-trimmed details, and an unassuming view of the Eiffel Tower. Of the 37 bridges in Paris, Pont Alexandre III is widely regarded as the most extravagant bridge in the city, and with good reason. This bridge is in a prime location — connecting the Champs-Élysées quarter with the 7th arrondissement of the Eiffel Tower — offering the perfect location to take in surrounding views of the city. Be sure to also take in the views of this stunning bridge! TIP: Pont Alexandre III is a great place to watch the sunset glistening on the Seine River. Also, make sure to stroll across this bridge at night as the 32 lampposts illuminate the walkway. Square Rapp Square Rapp is one of the lesser-known Eiffel-Tower-spotting locations. Located in the 7th arrondissement, this hidden gem is a nice escape from the hustle and bustle of other tourist hotspots in the area. This unique spot offers a peek into the residential side of Paris. You’ll head down a dead-end street, pass through an impressive iron gate, and turn around to spot the Eiffel Tower perfectly framed between 2 Haussman-style buildings. TIP: Be sure to check out the most beautiful door in Paris at the Lavirotte Building, located just around the corner from Square Rapp. This building was designed by the architect Jules Lavirotte and features a lavishly decorated Art Nouveau façade that is guaranteed to wow you. Located at 29 Avenue Rapp, 75007 Paris, France Rue Saint-Dominique Also known as one of the best shopping streets in Paris, Rue Saint Dominique offers more than just a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower. One of my favorite bakeries while living in Paris is located on Rue Saint Dominque — Douceurs et traditions Boulangerie Nelly Julien. Nothing makes you feel like you’re in Paris more than catching a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower while persuing between boutiques and eating a freshly baked croissant. There are also multiple wonderful restaurants on this street such as La Fontaine de Mars, which was made even more famous now that President Obama has dined there. Rue de l’Université For one of the most Instagrammable streets in Paris, head over to Rue de l’Université. A cobblestone street nestled between Parisian buildings provides the perfect frame leading up to the Eiffel Tower. Note that since this is so Instagram popular, it will be quite busy with tourists snapping their photos! Le Centre de Vision Precilens Just a few minutes’ walk from Rue de l’Université, this eyeglass store provides a fun stop if you’re looking for a unique spin on the classic Eiffel Tower photo. I must admit, this is my favorite photo of the Eiffel Tower that I’ve even taken — and I’ve snapped quite a few! Pont de Bir-Hakeim The Bir-Hakeim bridge is a unique steel bridge that provides transportation for the metro, cars, and pedestrians crossing the Seine River. The unique engineering design of this bridge coupled with its perfect location is what makes this location one of the best places to view the Eiffel Tower. Be sure to stop at the viewpoint in the middle of this bridge to overlook the Seine river with the Eiffel Tower background. TIP: Also check out L’île aux Cygnes, an island in the middle of the Seine, for more great views of the Eiffel Tower. The access point is in the middle of the Bir-Hakeim bridge. You’ll spot many locals as well as the French Statue of Liberty replica (located at the end of the island). Top of the Eiffel Tower Two ornate roof-top domes frame the top of the Eiffel Tower perfectly, making for another unique view of the Eiffel Tower. This view can be spotted on the other side of the Bir-Hakeim bridge, near the Passy metro station. Here is the exact address. Alright, there’s the 12 Best Views of the Eiffel Tower. I hope you enjoy spotting the Iron Lady around the city of Paris as much as I do! Want more info about Paris?
